Technical details

In any industry electrical motors account for 55% to 60% of the electrical energy consumption. Induction motors operate effectively as long as they are loaded upto 60% to 85% loading. When these motors are operated below 50% loading the efficiency and power factor is very low. During lightly loaded condition (less than 50% loading), it is preferable to run the motors in star instead of delta which makes you to reduce the electricity bill.

Advantages

• Voltage across winding reduces to 58% of rated voltage and line current reduces to 1/3rd. Thus there is a reduction in iron and copper losses, which means lesser power consumption, leading to reduced elecrticity bill.

• Improvement in power factor and efficiency or, no need of power factor correction capacitors.

• Energy saving from 5% to 35% depending on % loading of motor (no load to 50% loading - at 50% load minimum saving and at no load maximum saving).

• Decrease in line current which gives additional savings in cable losses and losses in switchgears.

• No need of changing motor to lower KW.
